Welcome to the official website of the Science Songwriters'
Association (SSA).
As of 2011, the SSA is not an active organization. For now, we are leaving this website in its current state
to document past activities and to maintain the possibility of a SSA revival at some point in the future.
You can see what's
going on with SSA founders Greg Crowther,
Lynda Jones, and Jeff Moran by visiting their respective websites:
SingAboutScience.org,
Sing-Smart.com, and
tranquility.net/~scimusic/.
The SSA was formed in 1999 for the purpose of promoting science through song.
Most of our members are/were North American musicians who write songs
about science and/or science teachers who use music in their classrooms.
However, membership has been open to all, regardless of occupation,
background, or geographic location.

"Our poets do not write about it; Our artists do not try
to portray this remarkable thing. I don't know why. Is no
one inspired by our present picture of the universe? The
value of science remains unsung by singers: you are reduced
to hearing not a song or poem, but an evening lecture about
it. This is not yet a scientific age."
