Welcome to the official website of the Science Songwriters'
Association (SSA). Last update: January 3, 2008.
The SSA was formed in 1999 for the purpose of promoting science through song. Most of our members are musicians who write songs
about science and/or science teachers who use music in their classrooms.
However, membership is open to all, regardless of occupation or
background.
Our members are scattered throughout North America, as are our
activities. For example, we give presentations at regional and national
science teaching conferences and sponsor a nationwide student
science songwriting contest.

"Our poets do not write about it; Our artists do not try
to portray this remarkable thing. I don't know why. Is no
one inspired by our present picture of the universe? The
value of science remains unsung by singers: you are reduced
to hearing not a song or poem, but an evening lecture about
it. This is not yet a scientific age."
