We are sophomores at ETHS and absolutly all are in love with two things: band and chem/phys (which together leave us with no life :) We think that chemistry can be fun and want to share our joy with the community.

The name is bond: Atom [Adam] Bond.

Bonding is what happens when two atoms get together
This almost always happens, but don't last forever ever
A Lewis diagram shows electrons as dots (background= atom, atom booonnnnddd.)
With C6H6O there are lots and lots and lots
Covalent and ionic are set by electonegativity
1.67 is the # to be
Linear, the trigonals, tetrahedral and bent
All you bonded atoms (all) represent represent!

Atoms want partners, but not a noble gas
With perfect octets, electrons they will pass
EN is the relative tendency
Of electrons to attract an atom-"that's me"
Covalent bonds occur with electron sharing
Ionic bonds steal electrons; "how uncaring!"
Less than 1.67 and you're covalent all the way,
More than that and "I'm ionic" you say

Sigma = single bond, pi bond is a bow
Now don't be mistaken, pi is not 3.14 (fo)
A double bond consists of a sigma and a pi
Triple bond is sigma and a double pi [pie] (mmmm mmmmm)
Hybridized orbitals are when electrons get excited
They go from level to level without being invited
Depending on their families: sp1, sp2, sp3 (whoop whoop!)
