Important search tips
1. Searches will only match exact sequences of characters! If your spelling of a name or term
differs from what is in the database, you will not get the desired search results. EXAMPLE: a search for
the performer "Bungee Jumping Cows" yields no matches because the official group name is "Bungee Jumpin' Cows."
For this reason, we recommend searching for single words or parts of words (e.g., "jump" or "cows")
rather than multi-word phrases. Fortunately, searches are not case-sensitive.
2. Keywords/phrases may be found either in a song's title or in its lyrics, provided that the lyrics
are stored in our database. This can result in the potentially confusing situation of a keyword search
matching a song whose listing says "lyrics not found online." This means that the lyrics are in our database but (to our knowledge)
are not currently displayed on a public website.
3. You may search one or more fields (Song Title, Album Title, Performer, Songwriter, Keyword/Phrase) at a time.
If you enter text in multiple fields, you will get results that match ALL conditions. For example, if you type "tree" in the
Song Title field and "Bill" in the Performer field, only songs that have "tree" in the title AND that are performed by someone
named Bill will be shown.
4. In the table of search results, all yellow words are links. Clicking on a song title,
album title, performer, or songwriter will trigger a new search of our database for the word(s) that you clicked. In contrast,
the links for lyrics, music, and purchasing information are external links that will take you away from this site.
5. If the results of an initial keyword search are unsatisfactory, try doing a search
using closely related words. For example, if you don't find what you need with a search for "Avogadro's number,"
try a search for "mole."
